What should I do about my library fines/holds?

Answer

Borrowers are responsible for returning materials on time. The Library charges fines for items returned after the due date. When students have unpaid fines or overdue items, the Library notifies the Office of Admissions and Records (A&R) and a block is placed on the student's record. A block will then be placed on college records. Registration, financial aid, and/or grades may be held until the late material is paid for or returned. Fines must be paid in person.

Fine amounts

  • Reserve items will incur fines at the rate of 50 cents per hour overdue.
  • Overdue items will be billed for replacement until they are returned or renewed.
  • Lost or damaged items:  Purchase price
  • Students with fines over $20 will not be able to check out library materials.
  • Bounced checks: Original fine plus bank service charges
  • Registration holds will be placed on school accounts if technology (such as Chromebooks) have not been returned.
  • Contact awebster@ccsf.edu to have a library fine related hold temporarily removed.
